چکیده

We have proved a new rotational sorting algorithm capable of reducing the complexity of data assignment process embedded in the maximum likelihood (ML)-based solution of a multitarget tracking problem from O(N3) of the conventional Hungarian type routines to O(N2) provided that the bearings-only measurements from an array of passive sensors are free from cluttering and missing data. © 2001 IMACS. Noise-induced absolute instability is demonstrated in computer experiments with a one-dimensional reaction– diffusion system. This phenomenon may occur in spatially extended flow systems of different nature, when the parameters are chosen close to the point of transition from convective to absolute instability. © 2002 IMACS. In this paper, asymptotic stability for neutral delay–differential systems with mixed multiple time-varying delay arguments is investigated. Based on the Lyapunov method, two new stability criteria in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) are presented to guarantee the stability for the systems. The LMIs can be easily solved by various convex optimization algorithms. Three numerical exampl...

Patterns in networks of oscillators formed via synchronization and oscillator death

Pattern formation via synchronization and oscillator death is considered in networks of diffusively coupled limit-cycle oscillators. Different examples of patterns and their dynamics are presented including nontrivial effects such as: (i) synchronized clusters induced by disorder and (ii) transitions from non-propagation to propagation of fronts via the intermittency. © 2002 IMACS. Maximum likelihood estimation of the fractional differencing parameter in an ARFIMA model using wavelets

In this paper we examine the ̄nite-sample properties of the approximate maximum likelihood estimate (MLE) of the fractional di®erencing parameter d in an ARFIMA(p, d, q) model based on the wavelet coe±cients. Ignoring wavelet coe±cients of higher order of resolution, the remaining wavelet coe±cients approximate a sample of independently and identically distributed normal variates with homogeneo...
